If you have access to natural gas as a fuel source, our fire tables have csa burners can easily be modified with the use of a natural gas conversion kit.

The natural gas conversion kit includes everything needed to convert our CSA certified burners from propane to natural gas. It includes a hose with a quick-connect, natural gas orifice, and a sleeve to cover the propane air mixer.

This natural gas conversion kit is sized for 50,000 BTU burners (included with any of our fire tables). The orifice in the conversion kit is sized according to BTUs and will need to match the BTU/hr. rating of the CSA burner you’re converting.

Step-by-Step Conversion

  1. Unpack your conversion kit and take note of each component. The conversion kit will include the hose assembly, a stainless-steel sleeve, and an orifice.

  1. To get started, remove the end of the flex hose attached to the bottom of the burner. This will be tight, so be sure to use two wrenches to avoid damaging anything. These are all standard threads, so it’s lefty loosey here.

  1. Remove the coupling. Again, this will be tight so you may have to put a little extra torque on the wrench. Remove the propane orifice—on the inside of the coupling— replace it with the natural gas orifice. You’ll notice, the new natural gas orifice is larger than the old propane orifice.  This is because it takes 2.5 times more natural gas than propane to get the same result. So, a larger volume of natural gas is required to produce the same flame height.

  1. Slide the sleeve over the propane air mixer. (Natural gas burns much cleaner than propane, so we don’t need to add air to the gas mixture.) The sleeve won’t be tight; this is normal. Now you can connect the coupling that contains the orifice and reattach the flex hose.

  1. Finally, disconnect the rubber propane hose and replace it with the new natural gas hose. This is a flared fitting, so pipe tape should not be used.  The other end of the hose—featuring the quick connect—attaches to your natural gas supply.  This fitting is different than the flared. It has half-inch NPT threads.  Because they are tapered threads, you will need to use yellow Teflon gas tape for this connection.
